Removing paint protection film / glue
Discussion
Any tips on removal of the film and most importantly the glue it has left behind?
Am in the process of removing PPF front the front of my car which has been on for many years and it is literally coming off in 5p sized pieces and leaving behind a solid glue residue on the paintwork which I can’t seem to shift.
Have tried heating the film but this just results in more glue being left behind, and the film breaking even more frequently.

I use 'Brake & clutch cleaner' to remove the adhesive residue after removing caravan decals.
Was shown it by the Techs at both the caravan companies I do bodywork repairs for & to date have had no paint damage issues.
Buy it in 5 litre tins & use white paper towelling - the Aldi Saxon kitchen roll is my preferred weapon!
Warming with a hot air gun does help to remove the film, but, as you say, leaves a lot of the glue behind.
ETA Customer of mine - van sales - used to use boiling water from the kettle to remove logos/vinyl signage etc. I've no idea whether that would be any better.
