Hello!

So I got an MOT today on my 2001 Ford Fiesta. There is significant rust on the rear inner sills (I'm told this is agonisingly common!) and I've been expecting it to fail. The hole is within 30cm of the bolts at the back. I spent the whole time weighing up a £300-£400 repair (having bought the car at £400, but it's otherwise sound) or if I should just spend that on another older car, hopefully, one not requiring welding.
However. Imagine my surprise when they came out and told me that apart from an incorrectly fitted headlamp, which they fixed, it had passed. A few advisories knocking around but not one mention of that dreaded corrosion.
Having spent the day in a happy bubble I've now come to worry slightly.
Could this be dangerous? Do i need to take it in and have it looked at, or would this have flagged up if it really was so bad? (no mechanic here... Just attempting to learn the ropes with my first car!)
If the consensus is that I should absolutely take it in again, what is the likely outcome? Can they take it off the road until its fixed? Or is that strictly an MOT area.
I have absolutely no intention of driving a dangerous car, and wouldn't put anyone or myself at risk by doing this. So of course I can take it in. However, it would be nice to be prepared for the possible outcomes so that I can plan it!
Thank you for any input here 😊
