Proper dent in my new MX-5. What's the best cure?
Discussion
Standard bodyshop fare that. Pull it out or fill it, sand it and paint. Bit of blending. Make sure they know you're paying rather than the insurance company.
Take it to a couple for quotes. Won't be that much more than the dent man would have charged for the dent added to what the chip man would have charged for the paint.

There is no way he could have done this without knowing about it, but he didn't even leave a note. I've decided not to bother confronting him (live and let live and all of that). Anyway, topic for another thread.
Might be worth starting that thread. I'm not suggesting confrontation, but he has damaged your car, so why should you have to pay to get it sorted? Is his van sign-written? Is there CCTV in the car park?Hope you get this sorted, but I really don't think you should be digging into your own pocket.

If that's Soul Red, find an extremely knowledgeable painter. It is, IMHO, irresponsible (borderline scandalous) of Mazda to have used that kind of colour on 'ordinary' value vehicles that are sold to everyday folk with ordinary expectations.http://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2017/06/09/mazda...
