My car is dusty, it’s where it’s not been used in a long time and just sitting on my drive, rain has made the dust look king of dotted, can the dust etch my car paint?

In theory yes if given enough sun exposure, the type of "dust" and the type of water it was being carried with.

Some paints will get to very very temperatures with reasonably direct sunlight hence some of the issues with washing cars in the sun. Essentially under the right conditions the water will almost be at boiling temperature, hence why water quality more so in hard areas can be a right pain as water can etch in 20 minutes in some areas.

My car has recently been moved under a shelter, what would the etching marks look like?

Anyone else think this crust could have damaged my paint work?
