If it's just clear, then mask around (very closely) and wet sand with 3M (ONLY!) brand 1000 grit wet and dry, then 2000 and finally polish etc.
Appreciate you could do it quicker starting at 400, but IMVHO patience pays dividends on bodywork - you don't want to cut too deep.

There’s a couple of YouTube videos showing pros using filler around the high spots, so it all gets rubbed down together. Gunman I think does one I watched.
