Bumper repair help!
Discussion
Hi,
Sorry, wasn't sure if this should be in here, or the BMW section...
My OH's BMW 118i is going into BMW Sytner [Solihull] to have the below rear bumper damaged repaired. We got a number of quotes from indies and main dealers and for once the main dealer was very competitive [although interestingly each place we spoke to had a different answer to how they'd repair the damage]!
We've decided to go with Sytner as we've dealt with them a number of times and have always been happy enough.
I know they are removing the bumper, sorting the 'lump' [red circle] caused by a bracket pushing against the back, painting/blending both the white and grey section of the bumper [blue circle] and then obviously refitting. The green circle highlights where the bumper has popped out and moved forward so fingers crossed they can get this fitting perfectly.
The reason for my post though is to get advice on what I should expect from the final job, how picky can I be, should it be 99.9% back to how it was before the bump? It's the blending that worries me. Would I be correct in expecting no visual difference between the untouched left side of the bumper to the section they'll be painting? At the moment the colour match between bumper and the rest of the car is pretty spot on so I will be disappointed if the repair is visible.
Cheers for your help.
