Disposal of left over softening resin
Discussion
I have one of the raceglaze 7l water filter / softeners. Changed the resin for replacement resin today. I now have a bucket containing mainly old resin but also a lot of water.
How do others deal with this? I assume it's pretty toxic to the watercourse so tipping down the drain is a dick move. However if I take it to the tip what on earth will I do with it there?
What do others do with their old resin.
Cheers for any advice

Dug a hole in garden. Poured off excess water. Scooped resin in bucket into bin liner. Rinsed bucket and emptied into hole. Let dry. Excavated residual resin into bin liner. Refilled hole. Bin liner in landfill bin.
Personal view being unfamiliar with the details of the systems, but I don't think water treatment plants are supposed to cope with material that is marked send to landfill. Resin seems similar to microplastics and those are a major environmental problem. Pouring down the loo seems equivalent to throwing dog waste in a children's play area imho.

You never mentioned the fact that it was marked sent to landfill, down the bog is still better than in a hole or storm drain though.Personal view being unfamiliar with the details of the systems, but I don't think water treatment plants are supposed to cope with material that is marked send to landfill. Sorry if I came across too caustic. I assumed people who had this sort of unit and were replying to my question as a result would know what filtering resin is / has on the bag. Felt I had to say something otherwise others may do as suggested without realising you didn't know what you were saying.
