Spot repair on alloy wheel paint - possible?

I'm currently in the process of refurbishing a set of alloys but 2 of the 4 are in very good nick with just a few minor chips to the lacquer or possibly very lightly into the paint. I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but could I just sand back the chip and a small area around it and then paint and lacquer that or is that a total no no?

No different to doing it on other paintwork, assuming you have a good colour match.
