Hi all
I have been very keen in using waxes on my cars over the years but I am now looking at getting a car polisher to try and restore some of the cars paint somewhat.
Can someone recommend a entry level polisher? I was looking at drill attachment. Is it worth trying that first?
Any tips or advice?
My powder coated alloys need some attention and the black paint has lots of fine marks on I would like to remove. Would Maguire's 105 be a good cutting agent to apply on alloys?
Thanks
Nick.

I use this with my DA polisher, it's a safe product for a beginner to use and gets great results.

The best bit of this advise is the "DA" part. A dual action polisher is much more forgiving on your paint that a rotary. If your'e starting out, don't go rotary, you'll risk burning through your paint way to easily.https://youtu.be/JC-HbZiOm1Q
I went for one of these, very easy to use and no danger of burning paint.

I use it with some of these pads in white and orange, as I’m only a novice I’m just getting used to it.

For the compound I tried this, I’ve only used it on one car but am very impressed with it and it does not have too much cut.

I must be a right saddo but I have to say I have had hours of fun with my DA kit.
A recent example, one of my wife's friends had an unfortunate incident with a minicab driver.
She has a 4 year old Black Renault Megane
The front drivers wing ended up with several scratches and a nasty graze in the paint about 5 inches long/2 inches wide.
I started off carefully wet sanding with 800 grit wet n dry, then 1200/1500 and finally 2000. Machine polish with my cutting compound after each one. She couldn't believe it when 2 hours later it looked as good as new. Very satisfying to do
