Best way to change wheel colour?
Discussion
Hi all,
I’m wanting to change the wheels of my car from silver to black. What’s the best way? And rough idea of prices for each? (20” alloys).
Plastidip is approx £50 per wheel but I’ve heard it doesn’t last for much more than a year before needing doing again.
What other options are there?
I’m based in Leeds but would travel up to an hour. Any recommended places?

Failing that, sure there must be decent places round Leeds. Also, I would go for paint over powder coat personally.
..... but black wheels, really!

Thanks Tickle,
I’ll give Lepsons a call and ask a few questions.
Why paint over powder coat?
Bit of a mixed topic powder Vs paint. In my own experience paint. Only ever had one set of wheels powder coated and the finish was poor. I've also seen wheels that have the coat lift at chip marks and water ingress underneath. There was also talk of heating and cooling phases from powder coating that could alter the integrity of the wheel. Not sure I’ll give Lepsons a call and ask a few questions.
Why paint over powder coat?
If that is true and it's associated evidence.
Suppose you can get good and bad of both, I just prefer paint finish and ability to key better to the wheel.
