I have a basic 2012 Peugeot 308.

I have found somewhere that can do on-wheel brake caliper colour changes for £85 (total for all four calipers).

However, they know clean it with a wire brush and apply paint.

Many YouTube videos also show a clear coat and wet coat?

What is the difference between the two coats?

Do I need them?

If so, they said they'd apply them if I provide the can(s).

They're not taking them calipers off.

Therefore its a cheap job (nothing wrong with that per se, just acknowledge that you aren't getting the best possible job)

You'd be mental to pay £85+ though in my opinion. A wirebrush, tin of hammerite and an hour of your time will do the trick.

It's one of the cheaper quotes.

Spray paint, caliper cleaner, metal brush, sandpaper, masking tape, disposable gloves. I have none of this stuff.

Easier just to let them do it.

In which case tell them what colour you want the calipers and let them get on with it.

By all means watch youtube videos for your own interest/amusement & you'll see many different & varied ways of painting calipers but trying to tell them 'I've seen this on youtube and I think...' is going to get you told to go away, although perhaps not as politely.
Frankly I can think of much better things to do with £85.
