I'm looking to paint a couple of bits of my car (stone peppered bits inside the arches) with a rattle can and I am wondering if anyone can recommend any suppliers that do good quality paints mixed to order? The colour is not common and no one does it off the shelf.

I have a touch up stick which I've used for chips (with good results by polishing after) but for the bits I want to do a spray will give a better finish - I've done the same thing on cars previously and had decent enough results, just need to get some decent paint.

And yes I know a body shop is a better option and in the future the car will have a front end spray and PPF applied but for now I just want a light cosmetic improvement smile

I've had rattle cans from a couple of local places that supply paint "to the trade" ... both seem to have equipment to fill cans somehow ... didn't get to see how they did it frown ... didn't seem to be a problem it only been 1 can, that I wasn't "trade" or paying cash

Only issue was neither sprayed very well or was a good match (maybe down to the base colour I used)

Luckly I found that Halford's actually do the colour I wanted (VW Dragon green) ... it was a good match & went on really well lol

Halfords also supply rattle cans mixed to order. They farm it out to an external firm but the cans I've had supplied have been good quality (good spray pattern) and well matched for colour. Colour match not really that important if it's inside a wheel arch though surely.

Ah, interesting. I have had Halfords mix a touch up pen for me before and it was actually a brilliant match. I was detailing a friends Aston Martin and there were a few small chips in the bonnet. Filled them with the Halfords paint, leveled and polished them and I think most people would struggle to find them now.

Will see if they can do a spray can then.

We've used Dingbro for tons of paint jobs and their paint always seems to be good.

Can you order from them if you're non trade?

Probably not over the phone but I'm sure over the counter they'll do a cash sale for the public. Just make up a trading name and use your address if necessary (i.e. Paul D Motor Engineering).

Here's the address and a link if it helps smile

Just to update, I ordered a can from Halfords in the end - there is one 2 mins from my work...

It sprays very nicely. Not had a chance to check how good the colour match is. Interestingly, the chap in Halfords didn't realise they did this service. Not obvious on their site either.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Here is a quick test I did of the paint Halfords got for me. Meet Coke Zero Cayman R edition. The colour match is pretty good. Not perfect but from the small test patch I've done it seems it will be fine for the intended purpose.
