hey just looking for some advice.

Drivers side b pillar trim has snapped off, its held on at the bottom by 2 hex screws but further up it is held in place by two plastic brackets with trim plugs used to push into the pillars metal holes.

the actual cover itself doesn't have a mark on it but as you would imagine without the two top trim plugs holding it in place it moves about and as a temp fix I had ran some tape across to hold in place while I searched for the part.

I googled the part number and a lot of places are selling them used around £30 and they also have the plastic parts missing so I imagine they must be able to attach in decent fashion somehow or they wouldn't be selling them used.

and the thought of shelling £40 to replace which I imagine is the price brand new from dealers is quite steep... is there anything I could use to stick the top bit tight without ruining the paint work if it was to be removed ?

I would imagine it would need to be some block of adhesive foam around the same thickness as the padded foam at the bottom end to cushion any pressure on the part or it would just snap if leaned on.

cheers.

In the last pic where I'm holding it flush against the pillar but I can pull it towards me because there's no grip at the top.

Pictures not showing for me but it sounds like a blob of silicon might do the job

Your pictures don't work. Just upload them instead of posting those links.

Sikalflex (or similar) should do the job of holding the trim.

Strange when I click them it opens up each image.. tried uploading but got a file size limit thing will try resizing.

You reckon it would damage the paint work?

tigerseal is always a good shout...although it will be a semi-permanent to permanent fix.

If it fits flush to the body double sided tape would be an option, otherwise silicone like I said earlier

Rough up the plastic surface at the area to be bonded, using best superglue bond some small rough pieces of plastic to the roughed up area to give the job a good key, clean the paintwork, now apply plenty of silicone or sicaflex to both areas, fit trim and duct tape in place until set

"Plastic Metal" will sort that easily, you can build it up to increase the support. I've fixed holed car radiators, motorbike crankcases, you name it.

I even did the fridge door milk tray and that takes about 4KG when the Mrs goes mad (that's why it broke)
