Gifted an older MX-5
Discussion
I have been gifted a 1999 MX-5 a few days ago and one weekend soon I am looking to give it a good once over,
Paint work has faded, it's got rust round the wheel arches & its got light scratches on it.
Fairly new to detailing so,
What order should I go about this?
Wash -> Clay bar -> Paint correction -> scratch/hologram remover?
Then what should I do about the rust around the arches?
Cheers Tom

No problem, see this https://www.carthrottle.com/post/a5eb79z/
i would attended to the rust and see the extent of it before worrying about the paint or anything else.
As a 1999 it'll be an early mk2...these are known for having front chassis rails that turn into rusty swiss cheese, so check that out ASAP, also have a good look around the front and rear sills, the rears go several times during ownership due to the less than brilliant design of the roof drainage filling the sills with water.
if all that is ok, and it is just rusty arch lips, cut out and replace with fresh metal... any remedial repair will only last 6-12 months before the rust comes back through and you have to start over.
