Got a metallic bright blue Mazda 2 as daily driver, it has lots stone chips on the front end and bonnet. Waxed it recently and after a few weeks the wax dried and ended up with lots and lots of little stone chips now visible as little white dots.Touched in the white dots with a blue sharpie and it looks better now. even if the chips remain.

Any advice on how to wax or similar without ending up with white dots after a few weeks.

Looked at the cost of getting the front end repainted but prohibitive given the value of the car, I may as well sell it for that much less, and if I traded it they would give me F* all of nothing chipped or unchipped.

You could maybe try 'waxing' the front end with a detailing spray (will need to be applied more often though). Or have a look at this stuff ti fill the chips in, works better than a traditional touch-up pen.
