Has anyone got before and after photos of your brake calipers after you have painted them?

The car is a Black C5 RS6 and the original calipers are gloss black. The wheels are going for a refurb (factory silver) so I was thinking of having the calipers painted either red or possibly gold.

Cheers

Yeah wasn't bad at all, I was doing the Pads at the same time so had them out, cleaned the callipers with brake cleaner, wrapped newspaper around the hub and suspension and then just got to work with the paint. Did a good 4 coats plus clear coat and they have stood up a lot of abuse and still look just as good.

Some photos pinched from my Reader's Cars thread on my Volvo:

The 'new' calipers I bought (actually from a BMW 7-series, 4-pot Brembo calipers):

And after a lick of paint and a cheap eBay Brembo sticker:

Aaaand on the car:

I rebuilt the rear calipers on my off roader recently and powder coated them gold while I was at it.

A few from my Fiesta - front and rear. Bear in mind that a painted finish is not impervious to brake fluid and nor is anywhere near as durable as powder coat, but in my case I wanted a specific colour - I just have to be careful when bleeding (a smear of Vaseline around the nipples works biggrin).

For cast iron calipers I have them refinished in zinc pas, then zinc etch prime, then paint.

I have aluminium calipers vapour blasted.

I did my Jaguar's Brembos in red, Hammerite spray

Didn't want red on my BMW, so matched it to the OEM Blue. Pearl basecoat with 2k clear.

Awesome work shown here. Better finishes than I got when a so called well known pro refurbed mine. The tiniest trickle of fluid leaked when bleeding. It was washed off within seconds with waiting soapy water. But the paint immediately melted. And to make it worse, the electric went off so I had no power in the house.

Doesn't seem locked to me or we wouldn't be able to post. Some of these calipers look amazing.

I don't have a photo of my calipers on the car, but I have photos of them throughout the process.

So they go from the calliper on the right as it was off the car, with how the other one cleaned up after the wirebrush treatment. No Dettol was needed!

Then the last two are before and after shots.

The paint used was the red caliper paint sold at Halfords. The wheels I haven't made my mind up on, they'll be either white or black. But either way they should look good.

Does anyone have any specialist companies in Yorkshire for this type of work.

Many thanks
