Decal removal

Looking at getting rid of my current car and it turns out that the stripes which were on there in fact weren't stock and are aftermarket. Have had decent quotes from a couple of the large car buyers, but subject to removing without damaging the paint.

Has anyone got any suggestions for the best way to do this?

Def Hairdryer. Needs to be proper hot and it'll peel off no prob. I do it every time I sell a car. (Though from windows)

No he needs a gas axe and few choice screwdrivers . Decal won’t know what hit it !

Hairdryer was my preferred and first thought, but there's nowhere to power near where I can park (even with a lengthy extension cord).

What's a rough cost at a body shop or similar? I've tried ye olde Google, but nowhere seems to provide quotes. Not massive decals, but annoying nonetheless.

Surely you have a family member, a friend or someone who has a drive you can borrow for an hour? Seems mad to spend money on a body shop to peel off a few stickers.

No friend with a drive? Hire a cordless heat gun.

Depending on the car colour and the length of time the stripes have been on there, isn't the risk that you end up with pristine stripes which stand out against the rest of the car?

A wallpaper steamer is better than a hair dryer, although it is a bit disconcerting when the panel warps due to the thermal expansion, you'll still need a source of power though. You could try a flask of hot water.

Hot air gun - be careful you don't overdo it & damage the paint - or boiling water as already suggested.
I remove quite a lot of vinyls from vans & caravans before doing body work & prefer the hot air gun.

Doesn't have to be a bodyshop, any decent mobile valeter should be able to offer the service, failing that a smart repairer.
One thing I would say is, check its not had any previous paintwork as removing decals could open up a can of worms.

Forget all that heat nonense, a cordless drill and an eraser wheel is what you want
