Volvo - rusty roof - costs to fix and prevent future rot?

Have noticed some rot on the leading edge of my S80 roof. Currently trying to get some goodwill out of Volvo as the damage is caused by a blatant and obvious design flaw (the rubber seal doesn't cover the whole leading edge, leaving an almost vertical strip of exposed, non-galvanized metal to take abuse from anything the road throws at it)
As of yet, I've not had any quotes however on getting this sorted and was wondering what the PH view is? The rot has already spread right down to the windscreen, so I think the glass will need to come out to fix it properly. I'm not sure there are any suitably good chemicals that will kill rust dead and allow me to just blob over with a touch up pen? (ETA - if anyone can recommend something that stands a fair chance of working and allows me to just use a touch up on it then please recommend away

In terms of ongoing protection, anyone any ideas on how much a PPF would cost to apply to just the roof? Nothing else needs it as they galvanized every other panel by all accounts.
