I had my car in a well known body shop in the area and they have used registration plates that advertise their name.
Work was completed to a high standard however not happy showing off I was in an accident that was not my fault. And when I sell the car they will know its been in an accident and harder to sell.
Garage laughed at me and told me that was not their problem and I could get other plates from Halfords at my own expense if that unhappy. But why should i fork out when not my fault?

They're legally obliged to show the makers name on the plates.

Understandable.
I presume the car required new plates as part of the repairs?
For the sake of cost, just replace them with whatever you are happy with.
Not worth getting worked up about TBH.

If the plates didn’t need to be changed, then they shouldn’t have been. Or at least they should have kept your old ones for you to re-fit.

If they required changing due to damage then obviously the new ones supplied have to carry to the name of the registered plate supplier by law, so if they are a registered number plate supplier then the plates will obviously carry their name. If you want to replace them with another set then obviously you can, but as they have said, it’s not their problem if you don’t want their name on them!

Not that you would lie about said accident damage when its time to sell???

It's the law to have the makers name/postcode on plates made. Assume they needed replacement? Insurance companies will not pay a penny more than they have to!

I know what you mean.
Plate makers name is one thing, I presume theirs is like an advertising hoarding ?! Nothing worse.
I’d get Halfords ones anyway, very discreet logo..

I wouldn't buy a car that had anything associating it with Halfords!

It isn't the makers name on them at all, it's the name of garage which put them on.
If you don't like it then order some online and get what the heck you like on them or leave that part blank.

It's the name of the registered number plate supplier. You have to be a registered number plate supplier and have a SID Number to have your name on there. If the bodyshop in question has a SID Number, which is most likely, then that's why their name will be on there. They may have their own plate printing machine or they may use a local factors who have their SID Number on file (which is what I do).
