Cleaning painted wire wheels

Exactly as the title. I need a little advice, the issue is the traces of grease which find their way out of the splined hubs onto the spokes. I could use an ordinary degreaser like Gunk or Jizer, but am not sure if they would affect the paint. I'm sure that there will be other alternatives, sprays?
How do people keep their wires clean?

Clean the grease by all means but be sure not to force cleaner back into the splined area.
Providing cleaner has no acids or salts & the wheel paintwork is of good quality & undamaged any proprietary cleaner is fine.
However my experience was to treat painted wires in the same way as the bodywork making sure they were well waxed. A tedious job but it's the price for such wheels.
Avoid using a powerful jet of water which may wash out the grease from the splines. Use sponges & soft brushes with a rich solution of car shampoo & rinse with a gentle flow of water.
Have a collection of small brushes to clean the very tight spots where the wires meet the hub.
Try & clean wires regularly otherwise it's a tiresome & finger-aching job if they get really mucky.
I endured all this & worse because I was addicted to chrome-plated wires that HAD to look nice always otherwise they might have been mistaken for painted wires. Actually I had a set chromes for summer complete with Cinturato tyres (what else) & painted for winter with winter tyres.
Regularly check for loose spokes & replace asap.
