If they hit you, wouldn't you be claiming from their insurance?

Definitely a write off. Curious as to how you've got damage on the driver's side from a roundabout exit though........

I was coming off a pretty big roundabout next thing I know the car is spinning and someone has hit the side of me and does a write off mean it’s not drivable?

A colleague had similar damage to a similar type of small car, it was written off. He did buy it back for peanuts and is now driving it until it dies as it owes him nothing.
Any damage to the sills and the rear panel is going to be hugely uneconomical to repair on a car that is not worth much.
Best case would be getting the other party to chuck you a few hundred quid and forget all about it.

No, it means the cost to fix it is more than the value of the car. wink

The affect it will have on your insurance is when you are asked if you've been in any an "accident in the last 3/5 years".
That is different to having no claims and a "claim in the last 3/5 years".

Don't even attempt to repair the car. Take the money from their insurance and write it off.

I'd second what everyone else is saying, if you go through insurance it will be written off.

Best case is you get a couple of hundred quid of the other party, don't go through insurance and just keep driving it as it is.

Or if you want to claim of his insurance, they should make you 2 offers, one to write off, where they will take the car and one to let you keep the car, I would take the second offer and move on.

I would say £200-£300 if you shop around. Maybe less.

I paid £500 to get my civic repaired and that needed new bonnet and front headlight. Wing, bumper resprayed and part of the chassis pulled forward 3 inches.

If you live in London get over to Acton loads of places to bargain.

Let his insurance sort it - however pound to a penny it won't work out as straightforward as you think.

Although you could get it fixed cheap yourself - and I personally have no issue with that, the car will be fine - let the insco write it off. If you get lucky then they might let you keep the car for a few hundred quid. Then either just leave the damage and use the car, or get it fixed at real-life rates (not hyper-inflated insurer prices).
