How to remove outline of old badge from paint

Hi all,

My car has had at some point in it’s life a model designation taken off the right hand side of the boot. In certain light you can just about make it out, I’ll probably be the only one that ever notices it but I know it will bother me still. Hows best to reduce/remove it? The car is red and nearly 30 years old...

Stick stuff remover if there is any glue left, then a decent polish, being red the whole car will probably need polishing though so might as well start a full detail session.

polish the area with something like meguiars ultimate compound, its probable that the red around it has faded a bit over time and the badge has protected underneath so itll need a polish all around to match it.

I'm not sure if my suggestion is 100% the best idea in terms of any polish/wax/gloss that may already be on the paint... but WF40/degreaser is a good way of removing glue/sticky marks.

I've manages to remove plenty of glue/sticky marks from all sorts of things using it. I've also used acetate (stuf found in nail polish remover) however i think this might be a bad idea.. as I've noticed it removes some of the shine/polish on certain plastics that ive used it on.

If none of the above works & it still bothers you see if the badge is still available & fit it over the area in question.

Good idea maybe a GB badge or better still if you have a bogo basic BMW or Mercedes an 'M' or 'AMG' badge.

If it's not glue residue then its paint fade around the place of the badge and absolutely nothing you can do about it other than respray or put another badge over it
