I'm currently "improving" an old russian jeep - UAZ 469 - there are a number of parts I want to strip back to bare metal and then of course lay some fresh paint on it.

If interested my readers car's thread is here - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Has anyone here purchased a non-commercial Soda blaster and an air compressor?

The local blaster want £40 / hour and some of these cost £100 to purchase - albeit with a compressor thats fine as i'm looking at those too for the paint gun / respray.

Any recommendations and tips more than welcome!

Not used a soda blaster but I can tell you that small single phase compressors aren't suitable for sandblasting guns.
They simply can't deliver the volume of air at the required pressure & compressors that can are big 3 phase items.
I did have a play with mine - 2hp single phase - which is fine for SMART sprayguns & will run a full size gravity fed gun & I'd have done better throwing the media by hand.

Quick google comes up with this Sealey one & that needs 8cfm at a sustained 75-115psi according to the blurb.

You'd be better getting the company you mention to do the job for you.
