I'm collecting my first brand new car in something like 30 years later this month and I'm looking for advice on the most appropriate paint protection product.

Car will be a red metallic if that's important - I have very little knowledge of this subject!

I'd also be grateful for recommendations for a supplier / applicator in the Milton Keynes / North Bucks location.

Looking to spend maybe £500 - £600 if I can get a decent product applied for around this amount.

Very grateful for any guidance.

Depending on size of vehicle, ceramic coating would be a good choice. Especially if you are not going to maintain it yourself..

I had GTECHNIQ ultra black serum applied eighteen months ago; am amazed how well my paintwork still looks today.

The appropriateness of the coating will depend upon what you wish it to do... Ceramic coatings are great, but not if you are the type who likes to regularly wash and wax your own car.

Any reputable detailer will be able to pin down what would be most suitable or your needs - take a look at www.pro-valets.co.uk for a list of local, insured and proven guys who should be able to steer you in the correct direction.

In the end I went to Gtechniq in Northants who applied their CSL and EXO4 to the paintwork and also treated the wheels and all exterior / interior trim.

Of course it all cost twice as much as intended (what doesn't?) but the results are very good.

Many thanks to Adam and Steve at Gtechniq.

I'm sorry I don't know. I've never heard of Gyeon.

Part of the reason for going to Gtechniq was that they are reasonably local to me. This wasn't a job I wanted to do myself.

Can I ask how much it cost you to do the whole car?

I've got GTechniq on my Porsche, initially it was applied badly by Porsche (applied over swirled paintwork) So Gtechniq HQ sorted it for me, took them 2 days to sand it off again.

Looks decent now.

About twice as much as I envisaged (see first post).

Gtechniq's website has am estimator, you can plug your car details in and get a quote for what you want.

Thanks for that. Never had it done before but have booked my car in today to have the full works done. Not cheap but considering what the manufacturers charge for metallic paint, it is fair. Provided it is done and prepped properly.
