Hey Everyone,

I had the infamous Subaru boot leak. The sill under the weatherstrip at the top was rotten. I have filled it out, primed it etc. However now I need to fit a weatherstrip.

Does using the official Subaru one make that much difference or will an ebay length of weatherstripping suffice?

Secondly, replacing the spoiler I have gotten silicone sealent all over the boot and I made the mistake of trying to wipe it off. Whats the best way to get rid of it all without damagine the paintwork or is it too late?

Try a Tar remover.

To remove adhesive residue & silicon sealants from caravan bodywork I use Clutch & Brake cleaner. Put onto it years ago by one of the caravan sellers I do a lot of bodywork for. To date not had a problem on car or caravan paintwork using it. As ever, at your own risk & try a test first on a non visible area.
