Pressure washer - but which
Discussion
No doubt this has been asked a zillion times, I did search but couldn’t find a recent post on which pressure washer to go for.
Father Christmas has promised to buy me one but which is a good bet to wash down my car. No other duties will be required of it. Budget up to about £120
Thanks

If you can stretch the budget then look at Kranzle, metal pump and fittings, etc.
Karcher is rubbish particularly the cheaper end of the market as the cheap ones last just long enough for the warranty to expire.
Best advice is never let them freeze with water in them as it will wreck the pump even just once.

I bought a karcher 12 years ago, dirt cheap, smallest one they did. It still works fine but is noisy.
about 3 years ago I bought a K2, still working fine.
A few years ago it seemed everyone was buying Nilfisk and there was a bit of hype "they're so much better, they don't break" etc. As it turns out it doesn't really seem either brand is significantly better than the other. Luck of the draw I think..

I think their life is dictated by the water that runs through them.
I live in a hard water area which seems to kill them, probably with limescale.
My Nilfisk has survived nearly 3yrs with hard water. It probably gets used once a month. I do religiously drain/blow the water out of it after using it as per manual. I live in a hard water area which seems to kill them, probably with limescale.
Not much between a Nilfisk and a Karcher quite honestly, both ok for what they do but won’t last forever and not much good if you’re a professional detailer as they won’t last long at all. Get yourself a decent aftermarket hose for either that doesn’t kink, the standard hoses on both brands and rubbish!
Kranzle are by far the best, if you can stretch the budget...a lot

Nilfisk all the way.
As someone mentioned above, O-Rings going in the lance is common, but aside from that, my two Nilkfisks have both been excellent. One was about £120 and the other was about £600 and can't fault either. It was actually the more expensive one which needed the O-Ring changing.
Years ago I had an ancient Karcher which was superb, but aside from the very expensive models, Karchers just don't have the reliability they once did.
I'm looking to get a nice big hot washer and I'd like a Kranzle, but just waiting to find a bargain somewhere as they're big money.

Karcher appear to have gone down the sink in terms of quality in recent years & even the "decent" ones have been cheapified for the mass market - not what they used to be.
A decent Nilfisk is well worth the money, but the models at the bottom of the range are possibly worth avoiding. I've had a P150 for around 4 years, it's seen more than it's fair share of work & all it's ever needed has been water & electricity. Stihl washers appear to be re-branded Nilfisks, but you can usually get a better deal on Nilfisk.
