Advice and Detailers in Oxfordshire
Discussion
Hi,
I have a Porsche Cayman which (according to the previous owner) had a rear quarter respray in 2016 as part of the dealer pre-sale prep (a cosmetic scratch towards the rear that had gone through the clearcoat).
The respray is good (colour match etc is spot on under all lighting conditions) but if you look very closely and catch the light there are a few defects (fisheyes) and a bit of orange peel. I *think* the entire panel has been cleared but it is possible that it has been blended near to the side vent (the lower wheel arch bit looks original) - certainly the door and rear hatch has not been painted and therefore I can't be 100% sure whether it was a bodyshop job or a good smart repair.
Now the car is by no means concours condition (it has a few stone chips etc) and once I have got it ready it'll be hitting the track. For this reason, I don't want to spend £500+ on perfecting the paint but I would like to have the orange peel and defects removed (yup I'm a bit OCD).
Is this the kind of thing a detailer could do (will they touch a previously painted panel)? Can you have only one panel corrected to save cost? And finally, does anybody have any recommendations in the Oxfordshire area? I'd guess it just needs wetsanding, compounding and polish. I could probably do this myself but I'm worried about screwing it up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes a good detailer worth one's salt shouldn't have a problem doing this.
On the flip side, they will want to inspect the car, work out what has seen some paint, take paint depth measurements and formulate a plan from there.
It is possible that by rectifying the area you have highlighted will then make the adjacent panels look out of place which then may need an element of machine polishing also.
Hopefully you can find someone on the following link -
