Hi all.

I bought a 2012 Audi A4 a few months from The Car People. At the time of purchasing I noticed rusting on the boot lid and requested that they repair it, they did but appears to be a botched up job as after the 3000 miles guarantee its showing up again. I took it to Audi and they said as someone had painted over it, the car isn't covered under the corrosion warrenty. So recently I've just had my car repaired by Alton Cars under an insurance claim and they did an outstanding job and got a quote for the boot lid for £200 +VAT.

Is this a reasonable price? As the bodywork mechanic told me a higher quote then backtracked to a reduced price claiming it was cheap (he also mentioned that he will stick the badges back on as usually they are hard to get back on after taking off to respray which are £20 a badge).

I don't know how a decent job will get done with the badges still in place.

Go elsewhere.

Sorry, I meant that they will take them off to respray and then stick the same ones back on

Get a couple more quotes from other body shops and that will tell you.

Not necessarily. I've never been to a body shop before so I don't know who will do a good job and who will not. You get what you pay for, hence why I am seeking advice on whether £240 ish is reasonable as I have just recently had work done to my bumper which is at a high standard.

If you're happy with their previous work I'd stay with them.
Price is not always a reflection on quality.
£200 +vat isn't extortionate by any means

Ditto this. Without seeing it, it's about what I would expect to charge.
