Black paint polish?
Discussion
Hi guys what’s everyone using on their black cars for a mirror like finish. I’m not a fan of pastes and hard waxes which are far to time consuming to apply and buff off. For me even the likes of dodo juice is too much effort. I much rather a spray wax/polish. Cars a VW and it’s 3 years old, I realise it’s nowhere near as good as the paint on my previous black BMW which was a good few years older, but hey ho. Car was machine polished back in summer and although most the defects and swirls are out I’m still never really satisfied with the shine of the car, just doesn’t have that ink black effect which a lot of BMW’s and Mercedes have. Just wondering if any polish/waxes are out there that can get it up to scratch. I realise a spray wax won’t really cut it but I’m willing to work with some kind of soft wax if need be
Many thanks

Agreed the paintwork does need to properly prepped and corrected, I only had it machine polished for the removal of swirl marks as the paint work was horrid, dealer clearly liked a budget car wash. Realistically it will set me back a few hundred quid which I don’t particularly want to cough up for in this moment in time, the car does look smart once cleaned and waxed just last about a day then looks like dog shi#t again maybe it’s just me, had comments about what I use to clean it on more then one occasion and I thought it was in a state at the time. I’ve never really rated super resin polish in all honestly and collinite is still something I’ve never used, is there any reputable place i can source this from, I don’t trust places like eBay and Amazon for some things, too many fake items knocking about...
If you don't want to polish the paint, then you should look for a wax/sealant that includes fillers to mask the defects up.
It's going to be hard to find a true WOWO (wipe on wipe off) quick sealant, so I would think you need to use a wax for the job.
You could try a filling glaze then sealant I guess...
I personally use Bilt Hamber Auto Balm, but I'm aware that it's sometimes a PITA to use correctly, so may not be for you..

Thanks for input mate, I suppose My best bet is to get it sorted Properly in spring or summer. Just have so many things going on with the Car at the mo, lots of cosmetic bits and performance mods, my next buy is a hybrid turbo, which is costing an arm and a leg, so I’ll just have to knock around in a Matt black car for a while longer lol I have found some quick waxes/detailer sprays to be easy to work with and a decent finish, they just don’t last very long, for obvious reasons really. I have been tempted on more than one occasion to just get the car completed wrapped, perhaps a satin grey
God your not lying either poor man black hole FML. Any good mate? Is it long lasting? Water beading any good? I have always wondered about sonax stuff, never tried. How’s it compare to autoglym and meguiars products they seem to be my go to brands. Not the best I know. Just easily purchased locally when I run low. There’s a new turtle wax ceramic spray out that I’ve heard people go on about, is that any good? I’m currently Using meguiars hybrid ceramic wax
Blackfire over ice works well. Paint protection layer and the the blackfire over ice carnuba wax. Just meet to keep it up with the spray wax after washing.
Gives a wet look to the deep shine.

Bilt hamper seem to be a name people suggest quite abit too, again I’ve never tried. Do they do anything which might be of use to me
I really rate them, not as flash or blingy as some people, but they properly maufacture themselves and don't just swop labels around..Things I like for detailing:
Clay (only needs water)
Auto foam (the best cleaning for a snow foam)
Air Bomb (air con cleaner)
Korrosol (fall out remover)
If you are restoring anything:
Deox - c (rust remover)
Hydrate 80 (rust convertor)
Dynax (anti corrosion)

Beading is excellent and in my experience it lasts about 4 months before i can see it going. Don't get me wrong there are better products if you want the ultimate but if you've got a good base to start with bsd gives you 90-95% of the more complex procedures with way less effort.Wash car
Dry car
Spray on per panel
Wipe of per panel
Done
Amazing beading, shine and protection is the result.
The turtle wax ceramic products also look good, car cleaning guru on youtube rates them.
Poor Boys Black Hole to polish and fill in the defects then Poor Boys Natty's Black paste - that combo is fantastic on black cars. My Lexus has black paint that is so soft it gets scratched by a breeze but the Poor Boys combo makes it look new again. Tried load of others but keep coming back to Poor Boys.
Black Hole can be done by hand or machine, but even by hand it is fairly easy. Natty's Paste is one of the easiest waxes I've come across to apply and buff off.

Thanks for input guys is the poor boys stuff a cream type paste as appose to a runny liquid? My paint also seems like its a thin water base and the front end gets peppered fairly easily, would the poor boys mask some of this up? I’m intrigued with the sonax as someone mentioned, seems to have really good reviews and easily sourced etc. I’m willing to give both a try as both reasonably priced, only thing that puts me off with the poor boys is i reckon it’s most likely a thick cream like paste similar to autoglym resin polish wish I ain’t a huge fan off

Megs and AG get way too much air time in car cleaning discussions based purely on the fact they are sold in Halfords. AG stuff as a rule tends to perform really poorly in independent tests (although the super wax gets decent reviews) compared to specialist stuff bought online.
My view is unless you put the time and effort in, you will get either something crap or something that wont last. Maybe someone off here local can loan you a DA? The difference between machine polishing and hand polishing is night and day. I used Scholl Concepts polish and seal with different waxes depending on my mood (Victoria Concours or Soft99) - my key product though is Gyeon Bathe+ shampoo, very hydrophobic so you can get away with just washing for some time over your decent wax and it lays down a thin layer which shrugs off water etc.
Oh and everything I have read says any polish/wax works with any colour, despite the marketing claims of some products.

Waxes and polishes are different. Many thanks
If you aren't happy with the shine then it's likely the machine polish job was not very good.
A wax / coating doesn't really add any extra shine or gloss unless the surface is already quite poor.
