RaceGlaze DI water Vessel.
Hey Guys, I've been doing some research lately into DI water Vessels, I Finally took the plunge and bought a unit from RaceGlaze Uk
The Vessel arrived this morning so spent an our or so running a direct feed to it so I don't have to mess about swapping hoses and lugging it around.

After it was installed I did a small test to see how effective this unit really is, I tested this on my work van that hasn't been washed for 2 weeks and been baking in the sun all day.
I simply filled a 5ltr pump sprayer with the water and sprayed it directly onto the wing and bumper that were in direct sunlight...….
After 30mins the water was still on the panels, 45mins later it had pretty much gone,, no water spots or marks anywhere... In fact it looks like I've just washed and dried with a drying aid.

.

.

For those of you that have been thinking about one of these.. GET ONE!!! The initial cost may seem expensive but its probably far less than most of spend on detailing products alone.
No more towel drying, chasing round the car when the sun's out to avoid water drying.

I'm looking into something like this myself, but would want to use it via a hose. I have a few questions for anyone who uses one.

I only plan on using this for the final rinse, and I have read that the best way to use it is at a low flow rate to allow the resin to do its job. I've also read that if in a very hard water area it's better to use two vessels in series - the first with 30ppm resin and the second with 0ppm resin - but I've not seen anyone advertising this kind of setup.

What does anyone use on the end of the hose to regulate the flow / make best use of the filtered water?
If using a 40m hose - how much filtered water am I going to be wasting?
Anyone got any comments on using two different types of resin?

Given I've had readings of over 300, I don't think it's an issue. I've only used a short hose initially to test it but the instructions recommend using an open hose and sheeting the final rinse as opposed to anything else. I have a low flow of 10lpm at my outside tap anyway so didn't got for anything bigger.

Omniflow, why don't you put the filter at the car end rather than the tap end if youre worried about wasting filtered water? They are heavy but that's an option? You could just use a spraygun like mine, they allow you to reduce the flow rate on the gun. Or just insert a flow rate restrictor washer at the outlet side of the filter.

Very helpful - thanks. They recommend using an open hose, presumably you squash the ends together a bit to make the water fan out a bit.

I could put the filter nearer to where I wash the car - and I might just do that. I'd have to build a little wooden cover for it, otherwise I'd get never-ending grief about how it looked.

Not sure if folks are aware of

cheap pure water, may work out cheaper than buying a DI setup....

I use mine for mixing with the car shampoo as it makes it far more foamy, and for the final rinse,

However, I have 3ft of hose coming out of the vessel, this is enough for me to fill the wash bucket and to fill a 7ltr pump sprayer that I use for the final rinse, I find this helps as you can keep an eye on how much water you are using for the final rinse,, Take the sprayer jet off the end so it works the same as an open ended hose.

If you use the same hose for normal tap water and the vessel outlet you will not have pure water as the hose will be contaminated.

Seems massive cost in filters just for water spotting

I bought it for window cleaning as well. For me it's worth every penny. I got the smallest one.

My neighbour uses washing up liquid and a washing up scourer to clean her car.

There are extreme examples in everything - this isn't actually one of them.
