Lockdown detail
Discussion
I’ve just finished a marathon detail on mine. It took me a couple of months off and on. Obviously I was hoping to be driving it by now but things didn’t quite work out like that! I used lockdown as a reason to finally pluck up the courage to remove my centre lock wheels. They came off without a problem luckily. I machine polished each one before ceramic coating them.

Waiting on an pile of new cleaning products to arrive over the next few days so I can get started. Really looking forward to getting stuck in to it.
What have you bought? I love all things detailing! It’s the only thing keeping me sane at the moment!A lot of the stuff has not arrived yet but the list consists off....
Nilfisk D140 power washer.
Upgraded snow foam Lance from Slim Detailing.
Bilt Hamber Snow Foam (5L)
Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (5L)
Bilt Hamber Shampoo
Bilt Hamber Korrosol
Bilt Hamber Wheel Cleaner
Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax
Bilt Hamber applicators.
CarPro Perl (1L) for trim and tyre dressing
Optimum No Rinse (1L)
Bouncers Done and Dusted
Poor Boys Black Hole
Microfibre Madness incredipad
Carbon Collective soft detailing brushes.
Silverback Drying Towel
470gsm Korean edgeless microfibre (x8)
Ragmaster microfibre applicators
Hoselock Pro fittings
Vikan brush
Mammoth applicator pad
2 Slims Buckets with Grit guards and washboards.
I think that is all of it but currently eyeing up....
Poor Boys Wheel Sealant
Gyeon Wet Coat
P&S Bead Maker
New 20m garden hose.
I can't really justify it but I REALLY REALLY want a upgraded short nozzle gun for the power washer. I didn't know these were a thing until I watched the Forensic Detailing videos but now I am doing my best to talk myself out of buying one!
I can also see a dryer and machine polisher being added to the list at a later date.
Seeing my list above is quite frightening as I only planned on buying a power washer and some foam, didn't really need any of the other stuff

I did about 15 hours on mine last week over the course of a few days.
Did a 2 stage machine Polish and Ceramic Coating on the driveway. Tough work but paid off in the end!
Can go into detail about products used if anyone is interested.

Nice clip of the water behaviour of the coating here too

Will let you know how I get on with the Done and Dusted. The reviews are great and the videos I have seen from independent detailers show great results.
If anyone had experience of Gyeon Wet Coat, P&S BeadMaker and Short Nozzle guns I would love your thoughts

Koch Chemie FSE and GTech C5 now added to the list instead of the Poor Boys sealant. In the meantime I have loads of old Dodo Juice wax I will put on the wheels for a tiny bit of protection.

Another quick tip: after you’ve coated the wheels with C5 give them a spray of Gtechniq C2. It’s a top-up ceramic quick detailer. It gives the wheels an extra layer of protection and it leaves them silky smooth too. I’ve just discovered it. I gave my car a final once over all round with it after a couple of layers of wax and the gloss is out of this world. Will let you know how I get on with the Done and Dusted. Are people finding delivery for stuff to still be ok? Who are you using to buy from?
I ordered most of it from Slim's Detailing, with a few bits from in2detailing and Cleanyourcar and had no issues, ordered on Monday and arrived yesterday. Slim's will be my go to I think as the prices are superb and they do a points reward system and referrals as well.Heaveho said:

Another thumbs up for Slims here. They’re still delivering and their points system is great. For certain consumables, such as panel wipe GTechniq) I’ll usually get from Amazon but things like pads, polishers and polish I’ll use Slims. If you’re in London I’d advise popping into their Enfield shop (post lockdown, naturally) as they’ll be more than happy to give you advice, chew the fat or generally chat about all things detailing. Great service all round. R1gtr said:

P&S beadmaker is my go to product. For a simple summer spruce up, I decontaminated the paintwork and clayed. Used Collinite 845 wax, then used P&S beadmaker as a LSP. I find that using lots of it first, the using a little for top up keeps it looking amazing.. The way is glosses and feels slick as soon as you apply is superb.. What are your views of the Collinite? I read good things about it but haven’t yet been able to pull myself away from my beloved Swissvax Best of Show.
Once you get the product in a really fluid form, generally leaving the bottle in the sun helps, it is mega easy to apply and equally as easy remove. Used so many waxes over the years, this is now my default choice. Also you hardly use any product and it seems to last forever when applying with a pad.. It is superb product..G

I took the shower partition out over weekend and did that with it,
come up a treat,
i wont use anything other than 845 now,
its easy to put on and doesnt leave that dust that gets let on with other polishes/waxes
black hole is good as well
Yep.
over the last few weeks a good go over of the cars.
Did my AllRoad on Sunday -
jet wash
snow foam
two bucket wash dodo juice
Bilt Hamber clay
D/A Meguiars Ultimate compound in damaged areas,
D/A AutoGlym SRP all over
Hand wax Dodo orange something
Now wondering if a Ceramic Coating is a good home application product?

For those that are interested, my hunt for gloss during lockdown continued this weekend as I tested out Tac systems shinee wax. Forensic detailing rated it as the glossiest product in a test. I tried it first on my sprint blue S1. As I had already decontaminated it a few weeks back. I just washed using Bilt Hamber auto wash, dried it and applied the Tac systems product. I went over the car a panel at a time and the product flashed very quickly, a little effort to get it off, but not too much. The end result was very glossy and slick. Maybe more so than beadmaker, need to see how durable it is..
