Replacating Stone Chip texture.

Polyester sill stone chip/protector : I have had to remove some of the thick polyester protector to add in a section (access bung missing = mud = rust)

Question, , How to replicate the dimpled look that is the factory finish ?

You can get aerosol stone chip paint from most motor factors.
The good ones come with 2 nozzles for a smooth or textured finish.

shutz spray gun and overpaintable stonechip

Finish the welding. (Needs to fully seamed, not tacked)
Grind flat.
Clean the whole length of the stonechipped area.
Mask.
Spray with stonechip protecting stuff of your choice as required to try & make the whole thing uniform.

I have a similar question to the op.

Does anybody know what stone chip VW use in the wheel arches on a MK 4 Golf? As i want to try getting this looking as close to factory as possible once i have taken car of the remaining rust.



It is a grey rubbery compound that looks to be a couple of mm thick so not sure if its a spray application or something else?

That's a brush on seam sealer. Upol make one, about £10 a can.

Duplicate the finish using a cut-down paintbrush. Thinners is also handy.
