DIY refurb/repainting alloys question...

Looking for a bit of advice - I've a set of alloys that I'm mid way through a DIY refurb, but have a question.

I've rubbed them down, primer-ed them, and done the first 3 coats of gloss black. Ran out of paint, and it's been a few days since now.

Can I go ahead and apply a couple more layers of gloss, before letting dry and applying the laquer?

Opinions please! TiA!

I'd give them a quick key with some 600 wet & dry first.
