I am buying a new car as a daily driver. I have been warned off by friends in the trade about getting the dealer to apply any paint protection / interior protection as they just do it quickly and improperly mostly.
Based in Slough
Car being bought from a dealer in Slough - brand new
I plan on keeping the car for at least 10 years, hopefully more
I don't know what colour - but I have told them any colour they like, just not black

Its gonna take a while for the car to arrive - so this is just forward planning

There seem to be an awful lot of suggestions/options out there. Are they worth it or should I just leave the car as it comes out the factory.

I am not obsessive about car appearance, my current car gets dirty and I take it to a handwash locally for them to clean it. Whatever is used must be largely set and forget - without regular "maintenance" / reapplications. Properly applied - not DIY

Car is NOT a prestige car. It is (or will be eventually) a kia e-niro

Interior protection = two cans of Scotchgard from Amazon.

Any kind of exterior protection will not survive regular washes courtesy of our Eastern European friends.

I'd therefore say you either not bother, or start washing the car yourself. In which case I'd also not bother with the dealer's paint protection and just spend an hour or so every quarter giving it a coat of something like Autoglym's Super Resin Polish followed by extra Gloss Protection.

I get my new cars delivered with factory protection intact to a detailer (ph'er poshtwit)

He then corrects the paint (its always flawed and contaminated), applies ceramic sealant to the exterior and fabric protectors to the interior. He even takes the wheels off and seals them so brake dust just hoses off.

I then maintain by washing the car myself and topping up the ceramic with a hydrophobic quick detailer. After 3 years the cars remain a doddle to wash, there are no swirls or halos etc.

However, I would not let the dealer do this work, they charge too much and don't do it properly.

Sold my wifes 4 year old Octavia Scout that has the above treatment, WBAC said it was one of the best cars they have seen in terms of paint condition etc. (I ignored there offer and sold it for £3k more to a normal person)
