Has anyone got any experience with interior trim repair?
Discussion
Evening all,
My wife and I went to see a used car at a dealer this evening, a 3yr old Kia Picanto if it makes any difference to the answer. The car hadn't be prepared/valeted yet, and it had a few light scratches on the outside which they are going to try buffing and if they can remove most of them I'll be happy. The more annoying thing is the scratches on the dash board. I should have taken a picture but didn't think at the time, its about 6" long looks like something has been loaded from the boot and pushed up the dash. The dash is textured in a "soft touch" lookalike sort of way but in normal hard black plastic. I've done some googling and some of the before and after pics are impressive, but also most seem to be the fine texture trim rather than a deeper texture.
To be honest, the more I think about it, the more I'm moving away from the prospect of buying it. Minor paint marks I can live with, its going to pick up more and you can't see the outside when your driving, but a scratch in the dash is probably going to annoy me every time I'm in it. Unless of course it can be repaired, I asked the salesman if he could have it looked at and he said he didn't know any smart repair guys who did interiors. He's going to let me know in a few days when the car has been prepped and I'll probably go down and have another look, but the dash scratch may be the clincher! Any opinions would be much appreciated.
