These were in this state when I bought the car ;0( (the centre section lights up of a night) any tips on what to use to clean them up, get some of the scratches out? Alloy outer, no idea what the bit where the letters are is, I‘m thinking plastic??

Cheers Jon

I don’t want to be pessimistic here but I don’t think that’s going to polish out. I think you’re better off buying a new plate.

No experience here, but you could try something like Autosol.

But prepared to buy new if it all goes to st.

Yep, tried Autosol thanks. I‘m going to give a dremel a go at the weekend, I don’t think I could make them any worse laugh

Do they come out of the sill reasonably easy, might be worth popping them out to avoid accidental damage to the surrounding area if the dremmel slips, if not plenty of masking up to minimise the chance. It may be that if you just want to make it uniform and remove the traces of the original finish scotchbrite pads may be enough to do this and give you a satin effect (which you may be able to polish further depending on the material they are made from)

PITA to get out, trim either end needs removing and no doubt I‘II end up snapping clips. So yes in situ with plenty of masking up of the plastic, light up surround. Hopefully ending up with just a uniform finish to the centre alloy section.
