Morning all,

We have a new X3 M40i coming in April. I’ve never bothered with a new car detail, but this car is Carbon Black and I want to give us the best chance of keeping it looking nice! It can be a bit flat, if not looked after.

On that basis, any advice on how to choose the best service/product/detailer? There’s so many options, but other than knowing that a ceramic coat is a good idea, I have no idea what to go for and what to avoid. Have seen some options at £1000 etc - not keen on going this far as it’s not exactly and exotic car or rare car! Just something to keep some protection from swirl marks and so that, ideally, a jet wash and snow foam does most of the hard work.

Many thanks for any suggestions!

Looks like you're in Surrey. I've used Robbie at Valet magic before and he is very well regarded.

You should have no shortage of options in that part of the country though.

A new car shouldn't need much correction so budget about £300 for that. Then its just how much you want to spend on a ceramic coating.

I went with G techniq Crystal serum & exo recently which is fantastic but pricey. Lots of other options though. You can even diy if you have access to a garage.

  • edit, just noticed X3 so maybe budget closer to £400 for correction
