Butyl mastic sealing tape as already said.
Think of it as a very sticky plasticine.
I use the black variety - colour purely as a matter of preference.
If you use something that doesn't give a good seal any rainwater getting into the door will end up inside the car leaving you with wet carpets & scratching your head as to where it's coming from.
Common issue when the weather sheets have been removed or damaged.
The waist seals of the windows don't stop water penetrating into the inside of the door, the weather sheets stop it getting into the car.
While you're at it check the drain holes in the bottom of the door are clear.

My old membranes are dried and brittle, hence the request for what to attach the new ones with, something which I’ve never bought or used before.
As I’m for the drain holes, I’ve got some old TIG welding rods especially for that purpose.
Thank you both. You’ve both been a great help

Try searching butyl cord instead of butyl tape - should come up with more results for car applications
Tig weld for the drain holes? You are not planning to seal them up are you?
No lol Tig weld for the drain holes? You are not planning to seal them up are you?

I just use the rods to clear drain holes. It flexible enough to get around corners, but strong enough to force its way through leaf matter.
