remove superglue from car help

Hello

what's the best way to remove superglue from car paint?

i've tried nail polish remover (acetone) it did nothing

or do i just scrub harder?

Depends on the specific variety, but the original superglue is slightly water soluble, so keeping it wet for a long period of time might loosen it. I'd have thought acetone would damage paint

guessing you've tried intensive tar remover, wd40, etc.

Worst case scenario it will need to be wet and dry sanded off

I had a run of superglue that had hardened on the wing for ages.

A mate suggested acetone and initially it didn't seem to work.However i kept trying in 1 spot (being careful to check periodically that the paint around and under was ok) - and very slowly it did dissolve. However took ages.

Your glue/acetone/paint situation might be different - however it worked for me. And although very slow, the gentle dilution worked 100% effectively in the end. A good lockdown task!

Perhaps worth another try in 1 spot - or with a different nail polish remover.

You'll need to soak it with acetone for a while before it softens, the danger here is that it will take your paintwork with it as well.

Superglue isn't actually that good a glue, so you may well be able to chip it off without damaging the paint. You'll need a strong plastic scaper of some sort, like an ice scraper.

Many many years ago Mrs. Adam superglued an aerial bobble to her car aerial and was most upset by the drip of superglue she left on the roof.

A bit of T-cut and a subsequent polish got the job done in no time.

I've not tried it on superglue but as it's citrus based it does a really good safe job. I've used it to clean up sticky buttons etc. It's mild but effective.

I soak it on a piece of kitchen roll and leave it to penetrate the glue.
