Hi all - recently installed a maxton design spoiler cap and the tape that came with it failed. I’ve taken it off and want to try again but I’m left with the residue in the plastic spoiler cap - any ideas how to remove? Rubbing alcohol and heat gun hasn’t worked so far!!

If all else fails this is my favourite glue solvent. Obviously great care needed, be but it's excellent

What's the spoiler cap made of?

The ambersil label remover spray works on some adhesives and it's not that aggressive, I think it's just limonene, so worth a go if it's plastic. If it's metal and you don't care about the paint under the tape acetone will definitely work.

Tar & glue remover
Clutch & brake cleaner.

Thinners (standard or gunwash) will fetch most stuff of most surfaces - but the risk is that it will take the surface with it!

What Dave said. Basically a big round eraser on a mandrel that you use on a drill. Made specifically for that purpose. Called a toffee because most are toffee coloured.

Scraperite razor blade holder with either their yellow or black Plastic razor blades in.

A bodyshop supplies place should have panelwipe in that will do the job. We use Upol slow degreaser at work for things we’re worried our tar and glue remover might damage.
Scott shop towel to remove any remaining residue once you’ve scraped the worst of it off.
Soak a rag in the Upol then wipe the area, keeping it wet. You’re not aiming to clean the stuff off at this stage, just to allow the Upol to soak through the foam and get to the adhesive.
Once it’s had a minute to soak in, Use the plastic razor blade to slice/scrape rather than just jabbing at it and you should find it comes off easily.
