Painting a panel - advice for a novice please!
Discussion
I recently had a temporary repair done to an arch on my E36 prior to a more comprehensive restoration which will happen in due course. The repaired area needs painting. I bought a pack of three aerosols; grey primer, base coat and clear coat. The question is, what is best way to apply these?
- One application and keep going until it's covered or apply in layers allowing each one to dry before applying the next and repeating until full coverage has been achieved?
- Same process for all three elements or different approaches for primer, base coat and clear coat? If so, please specify!
I believe it will need to dry between coats, otherwise things may "mix". Certainly when I was painting my replacement wing I painted the colour coat, then let it flash off, then painted the lacquer coats, with time between each of them. Lacquer over colour might be done while the colour is still tacky, I can't quite remember.
