Hello bodywork gurus, a bit of advice please,

Someone at work reversed into the NS front wing of my 6 Series.

Luckily, no denting of the wing (I think they may be composite rather than metal), however some paint damage and scuffing

Cleaned up as much as possible and left with this:

Gave it a good go over with Megiuiar's Scratch X and this is the best I can get. There's the area of paint damage and the remaining scuffs.

Is that area of paint damage amenable to a 'Smart Repair'? I'm hoping the scuffs could buff out with a proper machine polish.

How much would you estimate it'd cost to put right? The chap who did the damage is willing to pay and would prefer to avoid insurance (me too given the relatively minor extent of the damage).

It's a ballache as I just had the bumper repaired and resprayed after an old boy reversed into the front of it before Christmas. My Saturdays are sparse because of covid vaccination clinics, so the minimum fuss and disruption the better. Can mobile Smart Repairers get a decent finish?

What do you guys reckon? Appreciate your advice.

It looks like it just needs the corner of the bumper blending in, yes it's smart repair territory, but also any decent bodyshop that doesn't specialise in insurance work should do it, i'd guess anywhere between £100 and £150.

Yes, that would be an easy repair for a smart repair.

remember bodyshops also do small repairs ...doesnt have to be a cowboy doing it on the driveway on a rainy day

If it's metallic paint be wary, I had a very small dink on the rear on my car. I thought to myself because it was small, smart repairs. I engaged a company who's name is similar to the Goodwood Revival.
At the first meeting I was told no problem matching and I felt they could do a good job.
First visit, did the work and at this stage they matched the paintwork to the next panel perfectly.
Second visit, taking the vehicle off SORN 4 months later I noticed it had blistered so I called them back no problem they re-did it, but in the sun it was a different colour and it also blistered again.
Third visit, they removed all the overspray from the back end of my car and touched up the scratch they did, then they did the filler again but the car colour was as bad if not worse this time.
Called out the boss and he looked at it and said 'thats within colour variation standards' I thought what happened to the perfect matching you spoke of initially.
Long story short, they will not refund me, and it will cost me £800 to get sorted by a proper spray shop.
Now it may be the case you may find someone good, but when they then say it's within standards that's a cop out.

Hi chaps,

Took the 6 yesterday to a couple of bodyshops, including one who specialises in Smart Repair. There's a small bit of paint damage a bit further back.

Both garages of the opinion that owing to the location of the damage, unlikely yo get a really satisfactory finish with Smart Repair (something to do with flow coat?) and that it was going to be a 'paint the wing' properly job.

Clear coating the whole panel is generally preferable IMHO for a perfect job, but there has to be some cost / benefit analysis applied and I am not sure that flow coating is necessary. That involves clear coating, flatting and then applying a further clear coat.

Isn't that a bumper ?
The problem with a smart repair is where you stop with the clear. There's rarely a body line to stop at hence it's preferable to clear the whole panel
