DIY Rust Repair - Kurust then Self-etch or just self-etch

Hi, I've noticed some rust on the boot of my astra and wanted some advice for the DIY.
My plan was to remove all the rust down to bare metal, add kurust (rust converter) in case there rust left, sand, apply self-etch primer, then high build primer and sanding, basecoat and clearcoat.
Is this method right?
My confusion lies with priming the bare metal, should I not bother with kurust and just use an self-etch primer or do I use both?

If you remove all the rust....which should be your aim....you won't have anything to convert with kurust,which let's face it,is a pretty crap product.
If possible you want to use epoxy primer instead of etch but etch is the next best thing
