Worn seat bolsters
Discussion
Hi
I’ve just bought a car which has worn leather on the seat side bolster.
It’s not bad on one side, just the surface of the leather starting to wear. The drivers side is a little worse with some signs that the leather is starting to crack. It’s not split and the cracks are only on the surface.
The leather (or probably man made substitute) is from a 10 year old BMWz4 and is noted as designo white but looks cream to my eyes
Couple of questions;
Has anyone had similar and had good results repairing this or getting it repaired. I’m not looking for a perfect repair just something to improve it and stop this getting worse. Being light coloured the cracks contrast more than on say a black interior
Has anyone any recommendations for a repairer in the North York’s, Lancashire area - mobile would be helpful but I’ll travel for the right person and repair
Thanks in advance

I buy my stuff from here as they are local to me but they do mail order to.

Basic process is you clean it, dab on some colour matches "dye" (actually like a skin) the apply sealant to lock it in place.
And from when I first did it many years ago

If I remember correctly designo white was a Z4 special edition paint?
Do you know the actual interior colour code (from VIN)?
Colourlock should have it:

Had great results on my brown leather:

If it's not too much trouble take your seat out and if you look underneath there should be a piece you could snip off and post to them then you will get an exact colour match.
I took a small piece I unscrewed from the chair and left it with them and then went back next day to collect (but not quite as practical for you being a distance away).
Alternatively, give them a call and you may be able to go down there and get them to mix it there an then but do get them advanced warning.

I'm currently changing some of the colour of the inside from Black to Cream - there's a few more pics with explanation on my resto thread below

Always fancied having a full cream door...

Re-dyed the top 2 pieces and one coat for colour match sake on teh already cream panel

It does get a bit addictive and you start looking for things to colour! Now where's the cat???!! ;-')

It was just a case of building up the coats.
