Hi,

Outer sill on the car has been pushed in, no rust or any damage beyond that how much would a Garage charge to replace?

I was thinking about having a go myself seeing as i have a welder knocking about but after watching a few vids on youtube id rather not!!

Here's what it looks like.

Thoughts please?

Thanks.

Ermm, that looks like it's had a major side impact & is half way through being repaired (very badly) already... What happened to it?? Any more pics?

Indeed - looks like it's already had the puller spot welds run down it, then presumably the skirt re-attached without paint?

Let me explain! laugh

I acquired this vehicle 'cheap' due to this damage, been assured its fine other than the outer sill ( no structural damage )

I have had a 'play' myself at pulling out the outer sill by welding some washers on to the sill - that's why it looks a mess at the moment! no filler has been used... yet!!

I looked up a complete oem sill and its over £500 so had a go myself pulling it which as you can tell went well biggrin

I am just weighing up all my options and just thought i'd put it out there to get some feedback!!

It's hard to tell from the photo but I think the damage there is more than just the outer sill, it seems to have distorted the door aperture flange which will attach to the floor pan with an inner sill section, and where it meets the wing looks pretty mangled.

In other words it's not a case of just buying a new outer sill section and it fitting nicely, it needs to be cut/bashed/pulled into shape and the adjoining panels to match - also FYI what is there IS structural damage, whether minor or not.

If it were my car I'd be looking to take it to one of those bodyshops that is a bit rough in that they straighten out cheap salvage cars, but can actually work a bit of magic using a jig and pullers. They'll probably make it look presentable and functional for £500 cash in hand. But please be under no illusions that the structural integrity of that hasn't been compromised. To what extent, nobody will ever know until it crashes again!

Fair assessment that SuperPav, on the face of it it doesn't look too bad however who knows for sure what's lurking beneath although apparently before i acquired it it had been assessed as non structural by a so called professional
