So I bought new-to-me C63 recently. Before I bought it it was ceramic coated. My question is how best to wash/maintain the car now? The guys who I bought it from recommended i just use water, but having just done that, I really can't see how it's going to work in winter when there's more actual grit on it. The car lives outside on the street so I'm not looking to keep it concours, just reasonable. If I'm to wash it myself it'll likely be at a jetwash, as I don't have a hose at the front of the house.

Thoughts welcome!

Just wash it as you would an uncoated car: jet wash off the main grime and grit, then wash with wash mitt and car shampoo. Once dried you could apply Garage Therapy Sigma. It’s a great top-up protection for ceramic coatings and the gloss levels and slickness are some of the best I’ve seen.

I’d agree, you still need to wash regularly with a decent gentle shampoo.
Garage therapy do make some impressive products, I’ve recently bought a load.
Which ceramic coating was it?

The right answer will depend on what it was coated with. Water is the wrong answer, it will always need a shampoo of some kind, mainly for the lubrication to avoid scratches.

If it is a high solids reputable coating, then the best way to look after it isn’t to keep ‘topping’ it with quick detailers as these aren’t as good at self cleaning and protecting as the coating’s active layer is and will just trap hard water contamination. The best way to look after the coating is to keep the surface as clean and contamination free as possible so it can do its job.

There are a few coating specific washes that look to do this. CarPro Reset is the best known and an excellent shampoo.

Thanks all. I'm not sure what it was coated in but I'll find out. I've only given it one quick "water only" wash to get it looking vaguely acceptable for a wedding.
