How to remove old caranuba wax gone bad/white?
Discussion
I used some old caranuba wax on a car, a year ago, which turned a pasty colour... made that panel look faded. The rest of the car that was not touched looks brilliant. What can I buy to polish or rub the wax out, and strip it off. Its not washed off in a year. Anything more gentle than T-Cut, which (to my understanding) actually removes the top layer of paint, correct?
You are correct about T-Cut, but more specifically it removes the top layer, and in your case, that is the wax that you put on.
I would think, but don't quite me on this, that T-Cut is quite mild in terms of abrasiveness(?).
Maybe try it on a small patch?
Does water still "bubble" on the affected panel?

A clay bar would be perfect for this - https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/cla...

Just the clay, or the spray in particular? Im thinking it would take hours to clay an entire roof. I thought clay bars were used for specks of dirt. A large roof area would take a while... Thank you for the link. Have you used the spray you linked to? Was that also what you were thinking would get the roof clean?
An automotive paint cleanser as this is precisely what it is supposed to, to bring the paint back to bare. I suggest Meguiars Deep Crystal aka Step 1.
It is a fundamental in any amateur detailer range.

If we are talking about a mk1 MX5 which doesn't have clear-coat then I'd stay away from IPA and brake cleaner! - these will dry out the top layer of paint.
For a retail product T-cut is very abrasive and would be complete overkill for the task in hand.
A paint cleanser as has been mentioned previously is the ideal tool for the job, something like Bilt Hamber cleanser fluid.
Cheers,
Chris
