If you're paying out of your own pocket then I would suggest looking for a part in colour on ebay, if a third party hit your vehicle then just let the insurance deal with it.

I’m guessing it depends on how what sort of hair it uses and how long the hair is.

Hi all
Its basically hit and run so I cannot even claim looks like it was a truck. Also the car is a lease car I need to give it back in few weeks. I was wondering how much I am looking at from pocket?

It's not just the wing, the driver's door and bumper have also taken a bit, as has the wheel ! I would put that through insurance if it was mine.

That'll be well into four figures to repair properly with new parts.

I had a similar hit on mine. To fix "properly", I was getting quotes of around £1500. The whole wing needed to be replaced and then paint had to blended in to bonnet, door and bumper or else they said the colour won't match and the wing will stick out as being a different shade.

They will have to check your wheel / suspension and under your front bumper too. Looks like it will be fine, but if not, will add even more cost if stuff is broken underneath.

I'd go through insurance and get everything done properly. When its time to give your car back, I think the assessors are trained to look for bad repairs and will charge you for rectifying them.

Because my car was already 8 years old, I went with a bodge job for £400 where they bashed the panel out as best they could and used filler to sculpt it. TBH it shows. On a casual glance, you can't really tell, but it doesn't look 100% right if you really look. I had minor door damage like yours so they filled that and blended it in, so front door looks OK. It would have cost more to blend in the bumper and bonnet, so I didn't get those done and they are a different shade to the wing and door.

Hi, I managed to locate the truck and reg who did it on my neighbours CCTV. However when originally when I asked the builders they denied it. If I go through insurance what if he denies it do i still have to folk out excess to get it sorted? I am thinking to speak to him again and if he denies it I will report to police as it was hit and run.

Just give the details and footage to the insurance company.

This is bread and butter for them and you pay your premiums to cover these sorts of things.

I should mention, repair shops affiliated with insurance companies wouldn't touch my car, although one damage assessor told me they would probably charge the insurance company £3.5k, on the condition there was no other damage to the suspension etc.

Should be easy to take some measurements and match it up to that truck.

My wing was pushed in, bumper scratched by a delivery vehicle. A local bodyshop repaired the wing, blended paint and painted front bumper, £500. I know prices vary so maybe £700. If same damage (looks similar). It was cheaper for me to avoid insurance and cheaper for the delivery driver (they stopped and gave details) so I was lucky. Replacement wing was £80 but this varies across manufacturers. More pricey in labour repairing the wing , but gave a better finish (paint match) and vin number on wing.

I guess you are outside London? My quotes were London prices.
Also the OP has door damage. Will cost more.
