Paint protection - Recommendations please.
Discussion
Hopefully in the next six months we will be getting a new (1-2 years old) car. The intention is to keep it for a number of years. Unfortunately we don't have a garage/carport and nowhere to build one.
So as the car will be exposed to the elements 365 days a year I was wondering if a paint protection system would be a good idea, an extra layer so to speak, to keep the paintwork in good condition.
I would have it applied by a specialist rather than a selling dealer option.
However I have no idea what is good or not, what works, what lasts etc, so what systems/products are recommended ?
Many thanks.
Brian.

If you wash your regularly - weekly/fornightly/monthly then you don't need too much.
I wash our cars weekly, but with a lot of other products would only wax/protect fortnight/monthly.
But there's a lot of new stuff out that makes it so easy. I use this now after every wash (overkill, but it's literally 10-15 minutes to do the whole car including glass, alloys and plastic). Because most of my cars are metallic, I don't often bother buffing it as it doesn't need it - a couple of sprays per panel and spread around.

Both Autoglym and Meguiars do similar stuff.

As above, I'd recommend a ceramic coating. I DIY all of mine but if you're not tooled up to do it, or interested in doing it, any decent detailing outfit should be able to handle this for you. If you're precious over looks take them up on their polishing options, else just slap the coating on and enjoy the protection and cleaning benefits.
