Da or hand wet sand fresh 1k clear coat and techniques?
Discussion
Hi
I hope your all doing good.
As the title says. I'm going to flat and buff a 1k clearcoat (out a rattle can). I've done this before where I wet sanded and buffed by hand.
I've got 3 panels to do 2 of which are pretty flat the third lots of curves.
I've got a soft backing pad and 1500 grit wet discs.
And what grits to use and start off with regardless of da or hand.
I'm thinking if I do by hand then to start with either 1000, 1200 or 1500.
Many thanks!

Sand as little as is necessary.
Hand sanding will take longer, but it's safer. Things that you didn't want to happen can happen very quickly with machines!
1500 grit used wet.
To compound after sanding use a soft mop, plenty of water to lubricate & cool & be aware it's all too easy to stay in one place & burn through the clear esp on swage lines.
I use Farecla G3 Advanced Liquid Compound, but that's on 2k clear & I've rather more thickness.

Hey! So I used a festool to get the runs out. Wow what a tool! It didn't touch the rest of the paint for the most part and got the runs out pretty well. I wet sanded and buffed it out, you cant tell apart from some bits but overall it turned out good. Alot better than where it was before.
